BIRD, NEST, NATURE
Bedford Gallery, Lesher Center for the Arts, Walnut Creek, CA
OCTOBER 13 – FEBRUARY 11, 2021
Bird, Nest, Nature is a juried and invitational exhibition featuring a roster of local and national artists. Birds have long captured the attention of humankind, the earliest evidence of which can be found in cave drawings that reflect all that we cherish in nature from flora to fauna. This exhibition was juried by Jeffrey De Blois, Assistant Curator, ICA Boston and Rebecca Lowery, Assistant Curator, MOCA Los Angeles, and includes over 150 local, national and international artists inspired by the exquisite beauty of creatures of flight.
ANN HOLSBERRY
My diptych titled “Flight” (screen print on translucent fabric, 65 x 38 in each, 2019) is currently on display in the group exhibit “Bird, Nest, Nature.” Inspired by the light-filled space, “Flight” reaches towards the gallery skylights, and expands upon my fascination with migration and navigation in times of global change and instability.
This exhibition aims to heighten our sense of wonder and connectivity to the natural world while bringing awareness to the exquisite beauty of birds.🕊
