BETWEEN WORLDS

Statement

Between Worlds is a body of work created from a desire to explore both the ephemeral and the enduring qualities of nature. These pieces draw from my curiosity about the natural world, as well as my childhood on the waterways of the Florida Gulf Coast. I draw inspiration from time spent outdoors, both through objective observation and emotional connections with nature, and these two impulses appear in the work as a rich array of imagery and color. While the paintings begin with hints of rocks, seeds, bones, flora and fauna, my interest lies in suggesting a sublime world that lies beyond the physical realm – and in exploring the veil that exists between these worlds.
